Impressive Sales: A New Record for Alter Auction

The traditional Leilão de Alter once again made a lasting impression. With clear skies and a pleasant 25ºC breeze, the Alter Stud amphitheater was packed to capacity, and over 3,000 visitors filled Tapada do Arneiro. This year’s edition reaffirmed its place as one of the most anticipated events on the national equestrian calendar.

A total of 13 mares and 11 stallions were presented: when the gavel fell, 7 mares sold for a total of €45,800, while 7 stallions brought in €87,100, bringing the total sales to €132,900. This marks an increase of €11,250 compared to the 2024 edition, highlighting the growing demand for Alter Real genetics and the increasing interest from both national and international buyers. This year’s auction was a resounding success, further underscoring the enduring appeal and value of the Lusitano breed.

Quercus AR: The Star of the Show

Among the horses that captured the most attention was Quercus AR, a stunning young stallion by Coronel x Veija-La. Presented by André Brás, Quercus AR was the standout star of the auction, sparking fierce competition between the live audience and online bidders. The bidding reached €18,400, well above its starting price of €10,000, making it the most expensive horse of the event.

The horses sold at the Leilão de Alter 2025 will now travel to various parts of the world, with new owners in countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and of course, Portugal.
