On April 24th, 2024, all eyes were on the highly anticipated Alter Real Stud Annual Auction! With its rich heritage and esteemed reputation, the Auction has firmly established itself as a must-attend event in the Portuguese equestrian calendar. Each year, breeders, trainers, and horse lovers flock to Alter Real Stud, eagerly awaiting the presentation of some of the finest Alter Real Lusitanos – horses carrying the ancient legacy of their ancestors and the promise of the future.

Yesterday's auction was no exception, as attendees were treated to a collection of 23 horses: 12 females and 11 males. Beyond being a marketplace, the Annual Auction is a celebration of Portuguese equestrian culture and a tribute to one of the oldest studs in the world. The atmosphere was electric as buyers scoped out their potential equine partners, each one hoping to find their perfect match among the candidates presented by Alter Real Stud.

Full house with worldwide bidders

This year's auction was a full house, drawing enthusiasts from all corners of the globe, both in person and online. Combining tradition with modernity, the Auction offered two bidding formats: the classic in-person method and an online platform, making it super easy for everyone to join in. The international interest was off the charts, with bidders coming from equestrian hotspots like Australia, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, England, and Portugal – a true testament to the growing global appeal of AR bloodlines.

The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, with the venue packed to the brim and excitement in the air. The crowd surrounding the auction ring was a sight to behold. And let's not forget the online segment, which saw close to 3000 viewers tuning in to the live stream, showing just how much love there is for Alter Real horses worldwide.

Facts and Figures from the 2024 Alter Real Stud Auction

At the Auction, a total of 23 animals took center stage, and by the end of the event, 15 had found new owners. The mares were particularly popular, with an impressive 10 out of 12 finding buyers. Leading the charge was Que-Vivaz AR, fetching the sum of 10,800€. On the male side, 5 out of the 11 available stallions were successfully sold, with Que-Jubilo AR stealing the spotlight with a price tag of 15,000€. In terms of revenue, the females accumulated a combined value of 79,250€, while the males brought in 42,400€, resulting in a total of 121,650€ for the Auction.

This auction continues to offer a prime opportunity to acquire quality horses at attractive prices.
